Do blood tests hurt?
You will feel a small pinch or sting when the needle is inserted, but the pain fades within seconds. You may have some soreness in the site afterwards, but it should be manageable with over the counter medications. Most patients experience no pain after the initial sting.
Do you have to fast before a blood test?
Yes, in general you should fast before any blood work. This usually entails not eating or drinking anything except water for 8 to 12 hours prior to the test. For exact details of your particular test, contact your provider.
